Processed Media Summer 2025 Preview

Processed Media Summer 2025 Preview

Well, after a flurry of (mostly) disappointing television to start 2025, summer TV is here, and… the schedule is extremely empty! Save for a few high-profile returns (the final season of Squid Game on June 27, for example) summer 2025 looks to be a great season to catch up on some new series you might have missed to start the year… or more importantly, time to dig into some old series for some high-quality summer binging. With that in mind, here’s what I’ve got on tap for this summer:

First Impressions Continue; Rookie Rankings Return July 1

Look, it’s been a rough year for new television; however, we’re still giving everything we can possible its own chance at success, which means First Impressions reviews will continue throughout the summer, and the Rookie Rankings will finally be updated in early July. In the meantime, look forward to reviews of Apple TV+’s Stick, Disney+’s Ironheart… and hopefully, a few series we missed along the way throughout the first few months of 2025.

Friends The One with Joey's Dirty Day

Friends Season 5 Second Look – June 10

With Friends season 4 coverage (finally) ending this week, season 5 is scheduled to begin later in June – and later this year, we will migrate season 1 and 2 reviews over to this version of Processed Media, to unify the coverage of the entire series as we continue into the show’s second half. Season 6 in 2026!

Stranger Things

Stranger Things Reviews – July 15

The final season of Stranger Things will premiere on November 26, 2025 – 3,421 days after season one premiered in 2016, and changed Netflix’s prospects as a streaming network forever. I’ve covered occasional episodes and seasons three and four in the past – in preparation for the final season, however, I thought it was high time to go back to season one and revisit the entire series, beginning with “Chapter One: The Vanishing of Will Byers”, which will debut on the premiere’s ninth anniversary.

Two Guys, a Girl and a Landlord

Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place Season 2 Reviews – June 9

Ok, the first season of Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place didn’t take the world by storm when I covered it back in 2024 – but who cares! Season two is probably my favorite of the show’s four seasons, and is a great example of why letting a series find its own voice and rhythm over seasons (rather than 4-6 weeks) can lead to much more interesting, engaging results. Two Guys and a Girl season two reviews begin June 9, and we’ll dig deep into the show’s expanded cast, change in tone, and how it handles the rigors of a full broadcast season of episodes.

LOST Pilot Part 1

Community and LOST reviews return

Hey, remember when I started writing about Community and LOST‘s first seasons? Neither did I – they will return this summer, publishing whenever the schedule will allow for it.

Scrubs Season 1 Second Look – June 11

Once upon a time, I started writing about Scrubs… a journey that was canceled eight episodes into my second season reviews, way back in 2022. With the revival underway, now is the time to begin anew, so I’ll be ‘remastering’ my old reviews of season one, going right into new reviews of season two once those complete.

King of the Hill Season 14 Reviews – August 4

King of the Hill makes its much-awaited return this summer – and after dropping one of the more surprising revival trailers in recent memory, it appears there’s going to be a lot to talk about when the Hill family returns to Arlen. Of course, some logistical questions remain (what happens to Luanne and Lucky?) – but it appears all will be answered in due time, when the gang finally gets back together on Hulu this summer. I’ll be covering all 10 episodes of the revival when it drops.

BONUS: Continuum Season 1 Second Look – July 2

I’ve always wanted to revisit Continuum, the Canadian science fiction series I had a love-hate relationship with during its original 2012 – 2015 run. For some reason, its premise feels more prescient than ever in 2025, so – time willing (nailed it) – will begin reviews of the first season in early July, with reviews of seasons 2-4 to follow.

And… Other Stuff!
