Second Look: LOST ‘Tabula Rosa’/’Walkabout’ – Don’t Tell Me What I Can’t Do

Although being abandoned on a strange island full of rain and secret monsters certainly isn’t something anyone would wish for in their lives, the plane crash that brought Jack, Kate, and the rest of the Oceanic 815 to the island of LOST is exactly what they needed in their lives. There are hints of this sprinkled throughout the pilot (most obviously with Charlie), but ‘Tabula Rosa’ really brings out these themes of rebirth and personal salvation by taking a short glimpse into Kate’s immediate past, and how she ended up on that fateful flight.
