On a night like tonight, even I can appreciate a terrible show like 2 Broke Girls that allows millions of people to take their minds off the living nightmare at the Boston Marathon. And in a moment when I (and many others) needed it, 2 Broke Girls delivered one of its more awful entries of the season – which of course, brightened my mood quite a bit.
‘And the Worst Selfie Ever’ is essentially CBS’s version of the season 1 episode of Girls ‘All Adventurous Women Do’; a carefree sexual experience leads Caroline to worry about having an STD. As always, hilarity ensues, first at the restaurant when Caroline starts to feel something uncomfortable, to the free clinic, where the ‘sassy’ black secretary delivers the hammiest bit role performance of the season to this point (maybe save for Andy Dick back in ‘And the Broken Hip’). In between, Max takes every opportunity to throw insults at her, including a painfully unfunny scene that desperately tries to prove its pop culture relevancy by having Caroline fuss over which filter to put on her infected vagina (this is moments after she points out how relevant and current she is for sending out a ‘booty tweet’ to Andy).
Worst of all, they completely bungled Andy’s return, by completely brushing him off in the final third of the episode, resolving his appearance with a shrug of the shoulders and a dedication by the girls to focus on their careers again. As a semi-enjoyable character, Andy’s presence is always welcome, but we basically see him in three scenes, only to be tossed away without resolution. Disappointing to say the least – it’s not like there wasn’t room for it, just remove 50% of the ‘booty call’ and vagina references (specifically the ones that refer to it as a ‘hole’), and Andy could’ve really personified this idea of Caroline feeling empty and trying to distract herself from professional failure by rebounding with Andy – something Max points out to her, though it makes absolutely no sense because they had sex once and didn’t share more than 30 seconds together in a scene afterwards.
But such is the mindless drivel that is 2 Broke Girls, which was at its misogynistic, slightly racist best in ‘And the Worst Selfie Ever’, bathing gloriously in a sea of STD humor, whore jokes, and laugh out loud bits about men dating transvestites. Thanks 2 Broke Girls, I needed that tonight.

Other thoughts/observations:
– the end of the episode: Max sets up Han with a woman who she knows has STD’s… and doesn’t warn him. She thinks its funny!!!
– another laughable moment of the writers screaming ‘WE UNDERSTAND THE YOOOUUUTHSS!”: Caroline references the price of an Angry Birds update.
– Caroline has a $300 comforter and pillows, but has to buy bedsheets at the Under A Dollar store.
– One joke I laughed at tonight: after Caroline feels something odd in her ‘nether regions’ (as she referred to it at the hospital), Max says “You woke it up, and now it’s hungry.”
– Caroline literally calls Daniel Dae Kim ‘the Asian guy on Hawaii Five-O‘ multiple times.
– the girls spent $500 on blood tests, yet didn’t lose a single dollar. Logic?

The dollar figure at the end pisses me off every episode. It’s just lazy and gives a big F you to the audience
