Was this episode supposed to air before or after the Grammys? What begins as a night out for the girls turns into a first experience for Max, which then turns into a really, really annoying plane ride/2 Chainz advertisment. ‘And Just Plane Magic’ is essentially an episode constructed out of a line from a 2 Chainz song – one involving a “big booty ho”, establishing just how “different” a rapper 2 Chainz (formerly known as Tity Boi) really is.
There really isn’t a lot to talk about in the episode: Max meets a rocker outside a club, and gets them on a plane to the Grammys. That’s the entirety of the episode, with every dialogue a competition between each character for the best regular word to sex joke ratio. It’s not much more than 2 Broke Girls giving itself a Han Job: Max will do anything for sex, Caroline clings to the rich life she used to have, and 2 Chainz (did I mention he was in the episode) just so happens be Caroline’s favorite rapper, so we get to hear about ‘Birthday Song’ in many, many scenes, with Max and Caroline talking about how “magical” everything is.
I’ll keep this review short: ‘And Just Plane Magic’ isn’t 2 Broke Girls at its worst…. but it’s pretty close. Lazy even by this show’s standards, ‘Plane Magic’ is even more throwaway than the average episode of 2 Broke Girls.
Grade: D
Thoughts/observations:
– I’ll admit there was one decent joke: Earl being a fan of Downton Abbey because he loves to watch white people.
– the Han Jobs joke inspires applause from the audience, followed by cheering when Sophie bombards in, going full-retard (which we’ve been taught is never a good idea) about chasing high school boys in the world’s dumbest outfit.
– Did Max make a French Stewart joke, or did I hear her incorrectly?
– As always, serious drug addiction is funny!
Oleg will Xana-do-you. Gross.
